IDD Therapy Spinal Decompression

When pain persists and starts impacting everyday activities, it is time to find a solution not just manage the symptoms.

At Granelli Spinal Health Clinic, led by Peter Granelli, we offer IDD Therapy, the advanced non-surgical spinal decompression treatment that enables us to help patients get their lives back, without surgery.

Chiropractic care is highly effective for a wide range of spinal conditions and the vast majority of our patients respond very well. But when pain keeps returning or when a specific disc or spinal segment is simply not healing or functioning properly, we need to go further.

IDD Therapy enables us to precisely target the injured level, gently decompressing the disc, improving mobility and helping to restore normal function as part of a structured programme of care.

This safe, computer-guided treatment is gentle, progressive and has helped thousands of people move forward when nothing else has made a lasting difference.

Suitable Conditions

  • Herniated or Bulging Discs
  • Nerve pain in the legs or arms
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Facet Joint Syndrome
  • Chronic Back Pain or Neck Pain

Whether you already have a diagnosis or simply feel unsure about why your pain isn’t settling, we can assess you and determine the most appropriate treatment route for you.

What is IDD Therapy?

IDD Therapy gently relieves pressure on targeted spinal discs and progressively restores function with a goal of long-term pain resolution. At Granelli Spinal Health Clinic we use the Accu-SPINA system to deliver IDD Therapy, recognised globally as the gold standard in spinal decompression.

How it works:

Patients lie comfortably on the treatment table, which moves from vertical to horizontal.

Using ergonomic harnesses, the patient is gently connected to the machine.

Computer-controlled, precisely measured distraction forces are applied to decompress and mobilise the spinal segment.

By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging/herniated disc and gently working the soft tissues, we can ease pain, improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently.

The goal is to work stiff ligaments and tight muscles, help restore function and create an environment to enable the disc to heal.

Sessions last around 25–26 minutes, with heat therapy beforehand and cooling afterwards. Patients find the treatment comfortable and many actually fall asleep during the session.

Clinic Director Peter Granelli says:

“Chiropractic has transformed the lives of thousands of patients here at the clinic and remains at the heart of everything we do. But for some patients, particularly those with a disc that is simply not responding, we need a specfic tool.
IDD Therapy completes our offering: it allows us to isolate the spinal level involved and apply precise, controlled decompression in a way that isn’t possible by hand. Together, chiropractic and IDD Therapy give us a genuinely comprehensive approach to spinal health, and that means better outcomes for the people who need us most.”

Why choose IDD Therapy?

  • Current treatment isn’t giving long-term relief
  • You want to reduce or stop painkillers
  • You’re looking for a safe alternative to injections or surgery

Typical candidates for IDD Therapy are people who have back pain, neck pain or leg pain and may have tried various treatments without lasting success. They may be taking pain medication, have had an MRI scan, and may be considering more invasive options such as injections or surgery.

If you have a back or neck pain issue, or symptoms in the legs or arms, come and see us for an expert assessment to see which treatment is most suitable for you.

The aim is long-term improvement. As spinal function improves, the body’s natural healing processes can work more effectively. We will guide you on exercises and lifestyle changes to help maintain your progress at the completion of your programme.

Traditional traction pulls the whole spine. IDD Therapy isolates the affected spinal level involved and applies measured, targeted decompression combined with mobilisation.
